Feminine Tomboy

Growing up my parents knew that I was a handful. They pushed me towards more “womanly” activities such as cheerleading for my brother’s football team.  After the first game, I turned to my father and told him that I didn’t want to cheer; I wanted to be cheered for like my brother.  I wanted to play football, do gymnastics, dance in a ballet, fight with the boys, and paint ceramics all at the same time. I had a passion for sports and competition that could not be overlooked.

Winning in the simplest game of pick up sticks put me on top of the world.  I struggled a lot with my own body and look. I was the tallest person in the school at one point and a typical tomboy that kids made fun of on a day to day basis. My exterior became tough and closed off.

My inner " Iron Grace"

I stand at 5’9” with limbs longer than my body and the inner strength of an ox.  You may catch me in athletic clothing and a messy bun on top of my head or Nike sneakers, jeans and white t shirt or a simple black dress with diamonds in my ears.  It is that complexity and versatility that I constantly strive for.  I want the utopic never ending love story, the comfort of femininity and high self-esteem coupled with the independent, strong willed woman on a career path.  I am on a unique life journey. Basic and typical are not something I attempt to be. Some people like to fit into the crowd and accept that it is OK to be average. While there is nothing wrong with average, I was born to stand out and I am going to be extraordinary and memorable. Which took years for myself to accept and become OK with being the front line for people to criticize on a daily basis.

Finding my mission

Having been previously deemed “too muscular” and “too tall" for a career in fitness modeling, I struggled to find my true identity and purpose in life. It was at an early age of 12 when the modeling industry deemed me as a plus size model because of my athletic stature. Rather than accepting such unhealthy and destructive labels placed on me by numerous modeling agencies, I continued on relentlessly, ultimately discovering my passion and purpose in life.  I still told my mom that I was going to be the first fitness Victoria Secret model on the runway! In the process, I learned that my purpose is to break the mold that society casts on so many females. Using my position as a coach and athlete at Brazen Athletics and Xcel Athletic lifestyle to my advantage, I have made it my purpose to help women and men of all ages, find their true identity and love it! All the criticism gave me that hard shell to take all the "hits" verbally, so I can pave a path for other women and men to follow and become more comfortable with themselves.

Infuse your life with action. Don’t wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love.  And whatever beliefs honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen; Yourself right now, right here down on Earth.
